I was raised with the notion if you don’t like what is going
on then do something about it. Well, I am now doing my part and I
would like your help.
Introduction: First let me introduce myself with a few highlights. My name
is John Gorena (pronounced "go - re - na" not "go - REEE - na") and I am an American Citizen living in Lewisville, Texas.
I am a Christian. My ethnic heritage is of
Hispanic origin. I do
not vote by party lines, nor do I vote Left vs Right. I vote for what is
Right vs Wrong. Depending on your personal location on the
liberal/conservative scale I have been described as both, however, I
consider myself a conservative. Also, Since Texas is a Bi-Partisan
State, I have to choose Democrat or Republican in order to vote in the
primaries. I typically choose Republican in the primaries but have
been known to vote for the best candidate in any of the parties - even
independent. Currently, I lean heavily to the Republican side but by
no means am I a sheep to follow blindly. I have been married since
1981 and have two grown children. Basically, I just want to be a good
Christian American family guy with my feet firmly planted on the ground and
my head out of the clouds and to help where I can. I want liberty and
justice for all and to do this requires that we apply the laws to everyone. In the past, I have
been active with Boy Scouts, and many civic activities. My wife and I
are very active in this community.
WE ALL have to do something: On May 1, 2006, I was
stirred from my American Dream life when the airwaves were filled with
reports and news video of thousands of illegal aliens waving foreign flags
demanding America. This invasion was allowed to happen with very
little opposition and quickly died down. Was it forgotten or did the
rest of American just go back to sleep? I could not return to my
oblivious American Dream Life without the constant stirrings of recent
events. I was groggy and unclear about the direction of this Country.
How come someone isn't doing something?
I AM AWAKE: I decided to start this site on April 12, 2007. I went to
a political debate between candidates
running for Lewisville City Council. A question was asked about how
they can support the Council's action to buy and build a
Lewisville Day Laborer Site. There was only one candidate that
did not make me feel like blood was going to shoot out of my eyes. Due
to the issues brought up at this debate and ongoing issues in the headlines
everyday, I felt that there was something that I could do to help others
make sense of it. The issues are very clear to me. As I speak to
others about the issues, I find that most people think like I do and have
some really good ideas. Then there are those who seem to be so
misguided that they would give their soul to prove others wrong (being
asleep is often filled with confusing dreams). Some people think that
they are going to be called a racist when this issue has nothing to do with
race. What race is illegal alien? It is about Legal verses
Illegal and I ask that they obey the law!
IS THIS MY ONLY ISSUE?
NO WAY!
I was asked why this illegal alien issue is my main topic. In a nutshell,
the illegal alien problem intrudes on many topics that I am VERY concerned
about. I think that enforcing the law is the way to start clearing up
a lot of the following concerns that I have:
-
Medical costs
-
our taxes
-
our welfare system
-
our schools
-
crime
-
Security of this Country
-
The Future of this Country
-
people driving without insurance (I have had three cars
hit by illegal aliens that I had to pay for)
-
Identity theft
-
not paying their fair share of taxes (Employers and
Employees)
-
money not being used in our economy because it is sent
to their country.
-
People serving food without the proper vaccinations to
be in this country.
-
And the list goes on and on...
You see, I am not just about enforcing the Law concerning
Illegal Aliens. We owe them nothing but we seem to give them everything.
Enforcing the immigration laws is the first step to fixing the list of
problems since that portion of the population seems to affect these areas
the most. I know that there are Americans that do all these things and the laws should be enforced there
also. But enforcing current immigration
laws will take care of a large chunk of these problems across the board so
that we can continue working on them.
Starting to do something: The purpose of this site is to discuss important issues in a
logical manner. I plan to have voting polls so that others can
see a pulse on the issues. I am constantly asked
questions on topics that range from local
Lewisville, Texas concerns up to Nation Wide topics. As I start to
answer these questions on topics, they will appear as links on the right.
Therefore, this site was created because of all the problems
politicians seem to have in making decisions. I am not a genius but I
am a thinker and I think that talking about it is cheaper than therapy.
(grin - You may also see a little humor on this site.)
Let's
DO SOMETHING about it!
Thank You for getting involved,
John Gorena
