Week 8: Candidacy (each Question 100 words Max).
QUESTION
1. What experience, such as roles on boards, commissions and community service, could you bring to the position?
ANSWER: I have been on various boards and committees from the Boy Scouts to area
organizations like the Lewisville Chamber and City special events
committees. Currently, I serve on the Lewisville transportation board,
on the Citizens for Immigration Reform board, am currently serving as
precinct chair and, election judge, as well as, owning my own business.
Being on the council is about making the right decisions for the City
and representing the citizens.
QUESTION 2. What specific goals do you hope to achieve, if elected?
ANSWER: My goal is to see that the Citizens of Lewisville are heard and that I
help make the city the best that it can be. I want the citizens who have
spoken to me to know that I understand their concern about the
difficulties of illegal immigration and will work to help alleviate as
much of the problems as possible. Other goals include making English the
Official Language of Lewisville, revitalize older parts of Lewisville,
and limit the display of political signs. I would also like to see
better communication with other levels of government to improve
legislation.
QUESTION
3. Why are you the better candidate?
ANSWER: The answer comes from why I am running - because I could not find anyone
who really represents me on the Council. Some decisions have been made
that made me realize that enough is enough. When a City Council votes to
build a day labor site rather than wanting to enforce the laws of this
Country, it was time I try to get someone to run for office or do it
myself. There are two positions up for election every year. I hope that
I can encourage other Americans to run for Council and help make a
difference.
QUESTION 4. How will you make a difference, if elected?
ANSWER: Those on the Council are not bad people. I disagree with some of the
decisions that have been made. I will make a difference because of who I
am and how I make decisions. I look at things as Right and Wrong not
Right and Left. I will work with the others on the Council and we will
vote as a group. If the outcome is not what the citizens want, then the
citizens should vote two new people onto the Council at every yearly
election until they get what they want.
