This page will list the news articles that you might have missed in 2010, much like the list in 2009.  NOTE:  The articles may discuss other elected positions but the reason these are here is because the article mentioned my campaign.

  • Dallas Morning News - 01-13-2010 - DMN Editorial on Lewisville's E-Verify proposal.

  • Dallas Morning News - 02-05-2010 - E-Verify compromise offered at Lewisville retreat

  • Lewisville Leader - 03-24-2010 - Gorena Announces Candidacy For Re-Election.

  • Dallas Morning News - 04-29-2010 - Candidates for Lewisville City Council seat meet again.

  • Lewisville Leader - 05-04-2010 - Gorena set to face off against ....

    • Comments/Clarifications.

      • The total debt payments that we will be paying thru 3032 is going to be $213,914,617.12. That is what I refer to when I talked about that over the course of the schedule, we will be paying $213 Million towards the bond debt. I am referring to the $159 million in principle plus the $54 million in interest. I did include the GO, CO and Revenue bonds as laid out in that schedule in the Debt section of the report.

      • As for the $19.1 million, That is a little off also.  What I was talking about was our current year TOTAL DEBT PAYMENT of $19,167,618.14 and what I was saying was that if we had not bond debt, then we could be saving that money instead of paying it this year.  I was talking about bond debt (GO, CO, Revenue) as laid out in a "Future Debt Payments Required" schedule for payments until 2032 as shown in the Debt section of the report.

      • As for the Tax rate: Getting out of debt can mean lowering taxes as some of the rate is dedicated to some bond debt - specifically the GO bonds. The tax rate dedicated to the GO bonds would / should go away once it is paid off. I am referencing the CAFR on page 183 that shows the Direct and Overlapping Property tax rates (.11865 cents for GO Debt Service rate).

      • I am not continuing on my graduate classes at this time.   I mentioned some 15 hours towards an MPA that helps me with this Council position.

      • ICE ACCESS - Is the whole Umbrella of 14 programs.  The 287g program is only one component under the ICE ACCESS umbrella of services and programs offered for assistance to local law enforcement officers.

      • The 15th program that I refer to is called IMAGE that concerns E-Verify for the Business community.
