Quotable Quotes
"The ongoing migration of
persons to the United States in violation of our laws is
a serious national problem detrimental to the interests
of the United States." -
Ronald Reagan, 1981
"Tis our true policy to
steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of
the foreign world.."
-
George Washington (1796)
"Commerce with all
nations, alliance with none, should be our motto."
-
Thomas Jefferson (1799)
Theodore Roosevelt's
ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.
"In the first place, we should insist that if the
immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an
American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be
treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it
is an outrage to discriminate against any such man
because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is
predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an
American, and nothing but an American ... There can be
no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an
American, but something else also, isn't an American at
all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag
... We have room for but one language here, and that is
the English language ... and we have room for but one
sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American
people."

Subject: Lewisville Run Off Election 2007
Date: 05-23-2007
The Lewisville Run-Off Election is down to two candidates. I
have spoken to both candidates: Lathan Watts and Ron Aljoe.
Personally, I think both are well intentioned people. They say
that they want what is best for Lewisville and give the same general
views on the topics - except one. The main difference between
the candidates is their views on supporting a
Day Laborer site. Lathan Watts has
said the same thing since he started his campaign that he does not
support spending money on a Day Labor Site which encourages breaking
the law. On the other side, Aljoe has been enthusiastic about
the Day Labor Site. He has not publicly said anything
different as far as I know.
If you want to prevent the
construction of a day labor site in Lewisville, vote for Lathan
Watts in the Lewisville run-off election for city council place #3.
Early voting starts 05-29-2007 and runs
until election day which is June 9th. If you oppose a day labor site
in Lewisville, please forward this information to everyone you know
who is a Lewisville resident.
The Lewisville city Council has already allocated $138K for this
site and Lathan's opponent, Ron Aljoe has stated unequivocally that
he favors such an effort (see
Aljoe's comments). We need someone on the city council who will
strongly oppose spending this money for this purpose. Let's not
reward people who have already broken the law by putting a roof over
their heads so they can work in Lewisville illegally!
You can make a difference! Please vote for Lathan Watts!!!
