Special Election Is Over!
Neil Ferguson won the election. There will be no run off. You can contact Neil
Ferguson at http://electferguson.com.
ALSO, I am proud of Steve Hill for running a good campaign. I do wish he won so
that we could have another person who has the same values as I do. Oh
well, the conservative people had a chance to vote and they chose not to
vote. Here are the results.

- On a personal note, I am very disappointed that only 325
conservatives voted in this election. There are 42,850
registered voters and only 325 conservatives voted for Steve Hill.
(I may repeat that a few times.) You may question my
wording but there was a very clear difference between the candidates.
A difference more clear than I have ever seen. A vote for Steve Hill was a
vote for the values I believe in - a vote for what most of my
supporters believe. By the way, stop moving out of
Lewisville... Only 325... Very disappointing indeed.
- I do not know if the other candidate was even aware of the
tactics of his supporters. What did his supporters do?
- One used the email list from a civic organization to give her
endorsement. The email was sent to me by someone on that list.
- Another person made a copy of Steve Hill's website. Hill's
website is at
www.HillForLewisville.com and they had made a fake one. I
wish I took a screen shot of it (not in cached pages). You can
see from search engine results the title and how the other side
plays (site search
1,
2,
3). At
this time, the other domain name that they have purchased is the
.org version and it points to the wide range of rules for the CDBG
entitlement program which I have blogged about.
Steve Hill is on the conservative side like I am on how that money
should be spent. So, I am not sure what they are trying to say
by pointing to the
Government CDBG site except that they can go the liberal
direction on how that money is spent.
- NEXT ELECTIONS are 2012
- PRIMARIES which are currently dated to be March 6, 2012. It may move to an
later date... May also be a RUNOFF Election after
- CITY ELECTION - Annual City Election in May. (& runoff if no
clear winner)
- NOVEMBER Elections - Every year. This one is for President

NOTE: I have been asked by a handful of people why
this meeting was done after the City Council Meeting
and a few other leading questions... I
personally do not think the meeting was placed after
to actually hide anything. There were some
deadlines that needed to be met and the time before
the regular council meeting was filled with workshop
time. There were a few citizens that stayed
after and attended this meeting and made some input.
We will see what is documented in the minutes when
they are published by the City Secretary. I do
not know when that will be but you can call her.

Steve Hill, who is The Conservative Candidate that I vote for,
will need your help to get elected. He has asked that I pass this
information on to you…
- Please tell all your friends in Lewisville to vote for Steve
Hill. Do it daily. He could use your endorsements and
donations… goto
www.HillForLewisville.com or Email at
steve.a.hill@gmail.com.
- Vote at the Lewisville Annex (Library location) for the Special
Election - Lewisville City Council unexpired term for Place 2.
Election Day: - Saturday, December 10, 2011, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- On a personal note from me…
Voting for a candidate should not be just because you
heard the name or because you met them. They are all nice people
(candidates and those on the Council). What it comes down to is what
values they believe and practice. Have they been involved? What side
do they take on the issues? Does that reflect your beliefs? Talk is
one thing, action is another! Have they been vocal before running
for office? Why are they running – just because - just to be in
office – or is it to make a true difference?
So the question I get asked most is, “Who should I vote
for?” That is up to you. I am Voting for Steve Hill. For
almost two years, Steve has been coming to City Council meetings and
has spoken up as a Citizen on the issues. He has volunteered
for committees and was passed over even though he was the only one
on the list that had even attended committee meetings. He
stands up for his conservative values and beliefs like I do – that
is the kind of elected official that represents me.
The future of Lewisville, this State, this Country
really depends on how you vote on every election – there are several
elections every year. It would be nice if we can start electing true
conservatives so that we can make a difference.
If you are thinking about running in a future annual
election, please get involved now. Contact me and let’s talk.
11-25-2011:

Minutes of the meeting...
09-11-2011: Remembering
9-11-2001: Nearly 10 years ago I was trying to make sense of
the terrorist attacks on our Country. I did not want people to
forget as they already started doing about two months after.
I felt that I had to do something. So on my business site, I
created a
Tribute page for the 9-11 Tragedy which was one of the first of its
kind. Over the years, I have received many calls about the site
and how glad they were to find it. It was basically a list of
submissions or attachments that I received from emails. Basically
a place to put images and reminders that should not be forgotten.
Others have created pages and used some of this information (for which I
am grateful). There are some really good sites out there.
Please Google "911
Tribute Page" and look around.
- Ceremonies on 09-11-2011: There are two locally
that you may want to attend:
- 08:45 AM, Fire Station #1 at 188 N. Valley Parkway;
Lewisville, TX 7567.
See the Flier
- 06:45 PM, a candlelight memorial ceremony on the east lawn of the
Denton County Courthouse. The event will begin at 6:45pm and is expected to end at 8:00pm.
See the Flier
- How did it change your life? For many of us, we
know where we were and what we were doing when we heard the news.
Watching it live on the television, gathering with family and
friends, then just waiting to know what was next. On the day
after, 9-12-2001, I noticed something wonderful. This Country
came together and wanted to work together to make this Country
secure and self sufficient. It is a shame that a disaster made
it happen. It is a shame that many have reverted back.
Some things have forever changed. Who would have
thought that Hijackers would crash planes like guided missiles?
At the time it did not enter our minds - until it happened.
Looking back, why did we not think this could happen? Now we
know. Because of the evil people in this world, some of our
freedoms are gone forever such as absolute privacy - maybe we never
really had it? And now, 10 years later, have we recovered?
Maybe, Maybe not. In any case things are different now.

Candidates Debate. If you missed it, you can see it online
09-04-2011: SAD NEWS: I am very saddened this morning to hear that Lewisville Councilman
David Thornhill passed away yesterday from a heart attack. I do not know any of the details or funeral arrangements at this time. I ask that we all pray for his wife and family.
- Update 09-05-2011: No Finalized plans yet, but they are trying to have a memorial service on Wednesday
(9-7-2011) at 10:00 AM at the Council Chambers (this is tentative).
If things change about the Service, I will update here.
- Sunday morning we were informed that David was taken to the hospital on Saturday night about 11 PM. At that time (Sunday Morning) we were also informed that he had passed away. No other details.

Obituary
- Update 09-06-2011: The memorial service has been
moved to the MCL Grand Theater at
Church St. and Charles St. It is across the street corner
from City Hall. It will still be at 10:00 AM on 09-07-2011.
08-31-2011: Best wishes to Retired
Lewisville Fire Chief Rick Lasky – well, not completely retired.
Chief Lasky is going to be teaching and speaking in the Emergency
Services Circuit and working with many different organizations. You can
learn more about Chief Lasky from his website at
www.prideandownership.com. BTW, he also told me that Lewisville was
his home. You will see him around.
At the retirement ceremony, there was a great video
produced by Adam Capetti for Chief Lasky's Retirement Video. You can
view it at:

http://youtu.be/GyMgdqDyZow
You can thank Chief Lasky for his Service via Email at
rick@prideandownership.com.
Also congratulations to our new Fire Chief Tim Tittle.
Promoted from Assistant Fire Chief, Tittle has been with the department
since 1977 and has been promoted through the ranks to this VERY WELL
deserved position. Lewisville is in good hands.
08-29-2011: Lewisville City Council Meeting on 08-29-2011:
- 06:00 PM, Called Special Session Council Meeting.
This meeting was called because we have to have two public
hearings on the Budget (see 08-13-2011
Entry and after meeting comments).. Please look over
the
Agenda - Short Version or the
Long version with backup material.
Please look over the long version which has some backup material
that might peak your interest.
- NOTE: It appears the
City Budget Public Hearing Notice is written in a such a way that citizens believe we voted for a Property Tax Increase.
(The way the language is written is due to legal requirements.) I have received
a few calls this morning from people who want an explanation as to why I voted for a “Tax Increase”. I explained that if I wrote the notice it would NOT have been called “Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase”. I would have wanted to say, “Notice of Public Hearing on ACCEPTING the Tax REVENUE Increase AND THE VOTE TO KEEP THE PROPERTY TAX RATE THE SAME.” But that does not flow to well as a heading does it? (grin).
I encourage you to come to the meeting.

- Citizens Police Academy applications now being accepted
The Lewisville Citizens Police Academy, the closest
civilians can come to the men and women in blue, short of pursuing a
badge of their own, is accepting applications for its 2011 class
that starts on Sept. 1, 2011.
The free 13-week program includes instruction and
training experiences from the classroom to the firing range. Since
1989, dozens of Lewisville residents have gained a better
understanding of local law enforcement efforts through the program.
Classes are held on Thursday evenings, and
there are Saturday sessions on Oct. 8 and Oct. 15. Graduation will

Please look over the long version which has some backup material
that might peak your interest. Here are a few items that I
think you might be concerned about or just want to know about:
- ITEM F. PUBLIC HEARING: Consideration of Issuing Two Oil and Gas Permits for
a Site Located at 290 West Southwest Parkway, Known as the B & H NE-1H
and SE-1H Wells, as Requested by Titan Operating, L.L.C.
- After Meeting Comments: I recused myself
from this item because I am in the pool of the wells on this
site - that is, I removed myself from participation to avoid an
appearance of a conflict of interest. It is being postponed until the August 1, 2011
council meeting and I will recuse myself again. I expected it to be passed since so many property
owners had signed a lease and there was not really a reason to
deny it since property owners in the 500' range had signed a
waiver. Looking at the few properties that had not signed
a lease in the pool area, my guess is that nearly
80% or more of the land owners in the plat area signed a lease.
See the plat map on
page 42 of 433 in the Long version of the agenda.
