287g Houston Texas

07-24-2009: Houston joins in on the 287g program.

In a previous 287g update on 07-10-2009, I mentioned that 11 new agencies joined the 287g program. The latest city in Texas that joined was Houston. After having an image of being a Sanctuary City due to a policy of not questioning the legal status of a suspect or doing anything about their illegal alien population, they want to change that image.
OR, just maybe, it is because they have had 3 police officers shot or killed by illegal aliens, and one still in the hospital (partially paralyzed and lost an eye.)

07-27-2010: 20,000 Illegals Detained in Harris County

Now, after having been a sanctuary City and losing four officers at the hands of illegal aliens, they are just beginning to change that sanctuary image. It has been about a year since Houston got 287g training. The increase is nothing more than being part of the 287g program where all those arrested are run through the system tied into the national database.
