Quotable Quotes

"The ongoing migration of persons to the United States in violation of our laws is a serious national problem detrimental to the interests of the United States." - Ronald Reagan, 1981

"Tis our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world.."
 - George Washington (1796)

"Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto."
 - Thomas Jefferson (1799)

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.
"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American ... There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag ... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language ... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
- Theodore Roosevelt 1907

09-12-2007: Question:  I see that you mentioned you went to the Texas Straw Poll [09-01-2007].  Those are not all the Candidates on the list.  Have you looked at the list and have you done any research?  Which candidates do you like and why?

I want to start by saying that (at the time of this writing) the November 2008 Presidential Elections are still 14 months away.  A lot can change in that time.  And it is a wait and see who does what and why AND who gets on the ballot.  An example of changes, this last week, Fred Thompson publicly announced his candidacy.  You should notice in the Texas Straw Poll Results that Fred Thompson was already on the Texas Straw Poll ballot and he had not announced his candidacy yet.  The whole process seems like a game and people are not taking it seriously.  I think that only the candidates that are out campaigning from the beginning and those that go to the debates may be the best pool.  Today, I do not think Fred Thompson is in the race because he seems to be avoiding the campaigning and the debates but I really do not know.  It is obvious that the media has some type of agenda as they seem to promote certain candidates or ask certain candidates to attend the debates.  The media really promotes on the republican side McCain, Giuliani, Romney.  On the democratic side Obama and Clinton.

Here is a list of the candidates that I feel who are serious and in the order that I like as of today (09-12-2007).

My top two choices are:  Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo.

  • Has withdrawn from the race. Duncan Hunter (California) - I spent time (about 10 minutes) with Duncan hunter at the Texas Straw Poll.  I was very impressed with him.  I agree with his points of view on the major issues.  He has taken a stand that I agree with and his history proves it.  If only he and Tancredo would join forces and run together.   He has been consistent about his point of view about the border and illegal immigration.
  • Has withdrawn from the race. Tom Tancredo (Colorado) - Of all the candidates listed, there is only one that has his opinions on the issues written on a website and that person is Tom Tancredo.  I agree with more of Tom Tancredo's points of view as he has them written.  What I like about him the most is that he tells it like it is.  He is a straight to the point person.  He has been vocal about the issues from the beginning and has not flip flopped on issues that I can see.   All the other candidates seem to go with the topic of the day.  Tom Tancredo has been strong on all the issues.
I am not really sure on these others but here is my order:
  • Has withdrawn from the race. Mitt Romney (Former Governor Massachusetts) - Seems like a good candidate.  I like what he says about the Border and stopping the magnet that attracts illegal aliens.  He will increase ICE and their efforts like Tancredo and Hunter.  He does not seem to answer questions in the debates.
  • Has withdrawn from the race. Fred Thompson (Former Tennessee senator) - Talks big but has not really said anything on the issues.  YET!  I do like his attitude and I like the Michael Moore video that he made when he was angry about Moore's medical care movie.
  • Has withdrawn from the race. Mike Huckabee (Arkansas) - Says nothing as far as I can see.  Seems like a good guy but asked Congress to apologize for slavery.  This is just plain stupid.  They were not even alive when slavery was abolished.  He would have been better if he did not say anything.
  • Has withdrawn from the race. Ron Paul (Texas) - Seems a little out there.  He is passionate about certain issues but he comes across to me a little wrong on some issues like the war.  I do agree with his point of view and I do understand it but his plans on how to address the issue I do not like.  A plus for Ron Paul is that he has been consistent about his point of view from the beginning.  A huge negative is that his history shows that he has done NOTHING!   I think he will be more of NOTHING.  I just dislike McCain more and that is why he is above McCain on my list of choices.
  • Has withdrawn from the race. Sam Brownback (Kansas) - Says nothing as far as I can see.
  • Has withdrawn from the race. Alan Keyes - I think he wants to be Martin Luther King but he reminds me of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.  Everything seems to be about Race and not the issues.
  • John McCain (Arizona) - He says he does not believe in amnesty but his Bill is amnesty.  I will not vote for him.  He seems to be a democrat with an R next to his name.  He has too liberal an agenda for me.  Though he does seem to understand the war, the rest of his policies far outweigh the war issue.  He is no better than Clinton or Obama.
  • Has withdrawn from the race. Rudy Giuliani (Former Mayor NY) - He always talks about what he did with New York City and crime.  He gave illegal aliens rights.  He says that being an illegal alien is not a crime.  He will not get my vote.  He should have run as a Democrat if he wants to be president.
  • I do not like Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton as I do not agree with their beliefs or points of view.  Ditto on Edwards.  And I am not to keen on Richardson of Arizona, however, he is the best Democrat to me.

01-05-2008:  The media chooses who will run for President.  Duncan Hunter is still my top choice.

This weekend Fox and MSNBC decided not to allow Duncan Hunter and Ron Paul to the Debates.  I think Ron Paul is griping and throwing an tantrum and try to get on the debate,  Duncan Hunter is going to have a rally. (update:  Spur of the moment rally had 3900 people.  I did not hear it on the news).

I have to admit there seems to a movement from the media to marginalize the only true candidate for me - Duncan Hunter.  In all the debates they have barely asked Hunter or Tancredo any questions.  I remember Tancredo getting angry in one of the debates by asking, "Am I a potted Plant?"  It was very funny but he was right to point out that he was being ignored.

The media seems to be promoting the ones that are more like democrats.  Let's look at this a moment and start from what I perceive are the most Left candidates.  The top three Democrats are very Left:  Hillary Clinton, Obama, and Edwards.  They have already pushed out the more conservative democrat Governor Richardson of Arizona.

On the republican side, they are pushing the more liberal candidates Giuliani and McCain. I really think that these two are more Democrats than Republicans.  Then comes Mitt Romney then Fred Thompson.  The weird thing is that the next one is Ron Paul which is the worst to me.  Then they put Duncan Hunter last since Tancredo has withdrawn from the race.

Last - If people would stop looking at the polls generated by the media and actually research the candidates, I truly believe that they would be pushing for Hunter.  I think it is about voting for the right person.  If Duncan Hunter does not make it to the final Ballot, then it will be choosing the lesser of two evils.

01-06-2008:  Question: About the presidential candidates.  What determines how they get on the ballot? - submitted by KF.

This is a tough question so I will try to explain it the best way that I understand it.   The democratic and republican primaries or caucuses in each state have Delegates who are basically the county and other political organizers (active leaders) for their parties.  I think the one with the most will get the party nomination to be on the national ballot for their party.  It's confusing.  For example, There were only three candidates that got a delegate vote in Wyoming.  Romney wins eight delegates, Thompson three, Hunter one.  Which was more than the other candidates.  Did you hear about this on the news?  Yet Hunter was not invited to the New Hampshire debates - go figure.

01-16-2008: Duncan Hunter says he will stay in to the end.

From what I understand the race is still complete open.  Anyone can be president. We will see after the February Primaries if Hunter will make a difference.  We can only hope so.  Remember that Duncan Hunter won the Texas Straw Poll by a landslide.  He had twice the number of votes that the second place person.  I think the reason was that Duncan Hunter did so well is because he was not censored here in Texas at the Straw Poll.

  • Here are some articles online:
    • Duncan Hunter is in it to the end
    • Only candidate to act on Illegals is trailing
This short article really says it all.  So here it is:
      • In a time when many Americans, especially Republicans and other conservatives, talk about the current illegal immigration problem, many either don’t realize or don’t care that the only presidential candidate who has actually done something about securing the border is polling about 1 percent and, as a result, is being left out of the debates — Duncan Hunter.
Congressman Hunter built the double-border fence along San Diego County, reducing illegal immigration by 90 percent and drug smuggling by 50 percent. He is also the author of the Secure Fence Act, which was passed into law last year.
Immigration is not his only strong asset, as Congressman Hunter is a veteran, former chairman of the Armed Services Committee and father of a son who served three tours in the War on Terror.
The GOP wants to tout itself as the party that is tough on terror and tough on illegal immigration, but the polling of someone with Duncan Hunter’s credentials and the lack of talk about him on conservative talk radio tell a completely different story.
If fighting terrorism and securing the border really are priorities of the GOP, then what credentials do Romney, Huckabee and Giuliani have?

01-18-2008: You say you do not like polls? What about these? - Submitted anonymous.

Though not 'scientific' it is interesting.  The people who take these polls are those who go to that particular site and they wanted to take the poll.  Take a look at both these links and vote for your candidate (like Duncan Hunter).  The last time I looked it was Duncan Hunter was leading and Ron Paul in second place that were at the top. As for Ron Paul, he has this huge young following that are very internet savvy. The Duncan Hunter group seems to be more conservative and not really the younger computer savvy. Taking this point of view in mind, the message is quite different than what you see on the main media outlets.  Duncan Hunter should be talked about in the media don't you think?  Anyway, polls are not as accurate as everyone believes them to be.  It's the final vote that counts.

Will Duncan Hunter be able to pull it off?  I do not see how since he is not allowed to get his word out as easily as the other candidates do on main stream media.  The Nevada results are not in at this time and he probably will drop out if it is bad news.

01-19-2008: Duncan Hunter Ends his Campaign.

See Hunter's Announcement in the following link.  It is a very good speech and has a good message from him.  See the link at:
http://www.gohunter08.com/shownews.asp?artid=235 or our PDF Version.

Since the Right Guy is no longer running, I guess that we now choose the lesser of two evils.  At this point I like Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson more than the others.

02-07-2008: Romney withdraws from race.

Romney withdrew today.  The Speech was absolutely awesome.  If he had been speaking this way from the beginning, he would have done a whole lot better.  What a speech! That is a president!  Well, not anymore...
Funny thing about the speech... He did not quite endorse McCain but he stated that he agreed with the way he wants to handle the war.  We will see who he actually endorses.  I just have a hard time even considering McCain.
